Regular care is the easiest way to protect your court and avoid costly repairs. This checklist covers what to do in each season, based on the weather we see across Dallas-Fort Worth.

Spring

  • Clear leaves, pollen and debris left over from winter

  • Look for new cracks after the winter freeze and thaw cycles

  • Check that water drains off the court after spring storms

  • Inspect nets, posts and hoops for wear or loose hardware

  • Schedule a deep cleaning to start the playing season fresh

Summer

  • Sweep or blow off debris weekly during peak playing season

  • Rinse off dirt and spills before they bake into the surface

  • Watch for faded or slick areas from heavy use and sun

  • Keep sprinklers from spraying the court surface

  • Trim nearby trees and shrubs that drop sap, leaves or seeds

Fall

  • Remove fallen leaves often, since wet leaves can stain the surface

  • Clear gutters, drains and the areas around the court so water can run off

  • Note any cracks or low spots to repair before winter

  • Book a fall cleaning to remove stains and organic growth

Winter

  • Avoid playing on the court when it is wet or icy

  • Do not use rock salt or harsh chemicals on the surface

  • Keep debris off so moisture does not sit on the court

  • Store portable nets and equipment out of the weather

  • Plan any repairs or resurfacing for the spring

What not to do

  • Do not use a high-pressure washer up close. Too much pressure can damage acrylic coatings. Professional cleaning uses methods that are safe for the surface.

  • Do not ignore small cracks. They are simple to fix early and expensive to fix late.

  • Do not drag furniture or equipment across the court. It can scratch the surface.
